Look out for entropion

Pugs often suffer from a condition called entropion. This is when the eyelashes of the pug rub against the eyes. If this condition is not arrested in time, blindness can take place. This condition is caused by the short muzzle on the face of the pug. You should check for signs of tears, stains under the eye and check to see if your pug squints or not. These symptoms will inform you as to whether the pug suffers from entropion or not. You should also check the knee of your little friend. It often faces health complications in its knee.

Pugs are also susceptible to overheating. This can also result in death. This means never keep your pug in a parked car. The pug does not sweat and is prone to heatstroke. Never leave your pug outside even if the weather is moderately hot with food and water. In case a pug is overheated, it might throw up and breathe heavily. Here, place your pug in a cool tub of water or wrap cool, wet towels over it. In such cases where its health worsens immediate medical attention is the need of the day. A healthy pug is playful and should always stay indoors with its owner. The same applies to cold weather, even though it cannot withstand the heat, it should never be kept outside in the cold.
